An update at last!

Hello,

I have been kicking Mamma lately and finally it has worked because she has decided to write a little bit about what is happening with us little boys.

Well, I (Ymir) am doing great at leikskóli, I enjoy walking in the twilight in the mornings with mamma and look at the stars and the moon that are disappearing and the sky turning red because the sun is on its way up. Mamma and I discuss all sorts of things in life and how things work. Every day we walk past things that I always like to comment about: a car that is crashed in the front and a fire-hydrant. And this morning we found a bird that had been hit by a car! Mamma picked it up and got rid of it because it was dead.

When mamma picks me up she sometimes has Flóki with her and we all go for a walk either down in the valley or in the woods. And sometimes we go straight home. But when we go for a walk in the woods, we have to walk over a big pedestrian bridge over the big road where all the cars drive. Both Flóki and I like looking at the cars. And when we walk over the little bridge of the river I always throw a couple of stones over the side :)

A couple of days ago, Mamma, Flóki and I were in the woods and ate a big juicy orange! yum yum.

And Besto came for a visit a couple of weeks ago, she had brought me and Flóki wonderful gifts and many many cars :D we had a wonderful weekend up in Akureyri where I tried skiiing for the first time. We had brought along my excellent snow-sledge with a steering wheel, but when I saw all the other kids skiing, my snow-sledge was not so special anymore. Pabbi helped me on the skiing lift and taught me how to ski. I enjoyed it very much and went skiing the next day too! yippeee!

And I would really like to show you how much I enjoy painting, I got new painting accessories from Besto, some sponges and a roller-sponge that I used yesterday. I made 3 beautiful paintings and mamma will put in pictures of them shortly.

Flóki has started walking, and starts to talk a little bit. He is sooo proud of himself and laughs loudly when he is walking. He likes playing with me, but I am not so interested. He also likes opening and closing things and peeling off the duck tape that covers the ON/OFF button on the television. He also likes removing all the DVD movies from the shelves and he desperately wants to manage to open the cupboard door where the rubbish bin is. He likes drumming on the toilet, climbing into the shower,loves crawling up into my bed and most of all he likes having a bath!

Wow, so much that he likes doing, hehe. I also like having a bath, yesterday evening I went to the swimming pool with Åse, Hulda Liv and Mamma, we stayed there for more than an hour! And then Pabbi has been taking me to the stables where I help him with shovelling shit! I have my own shovel and my own little wheelbarrow. What a fun thing to do!

at last...

Hello everyone!

Mamma is apologising on the behalf of us because she is not very good at updating this blog for the time being...

Lots of things have happened since last entry.

Flóki: I have got 2 teeth now, finally they arrived after 8 months of waiting, hehe. I am still getting used to them, and they so not serve much purpose at the moment, because they are side by side and there are no teeth to meet the bite in the top of my mouth..

But Mamma don't particularly like my teeth when I breastfeed, so she is quite happy that I am not so interested in breastfeeding anymore :D

Yes, she has suddenly decided that I won't be able to cuddle and breastfeed at 01 and 04 in the middle of the night. I am pretty upset about this, but I think Mamma is happy when I sleep all the time til 05 or 06 in the morning without drinking.

I am also a record holder! I am heavier than Ymir was at the same time (8 months old) I was a whooping 11,6 kg and Ymir was "only" 11,2kg. hehe. Another record is sleeping during the day. Today I slept for 5 straight hours outside in my pram. Pabbi was very surprised!

Ymir and I have started playing together, sometimes I chew and lick his precious cars when he is not aware of it. And when he finds out, he is not very happy, hahaha. I only smile and pretend I don't understand. We also play together in the bathtub, I splash and splash and dig my toenails into Ymir's thighs, hahha! I hope Ymir will stop drinking the bath-water. He should definitely be listening to Mamma, I DO pee in the water! uurgh..

I love food, especially bread and fruit and milk. I am able to pick little cheerios up with my hand and put it into my mouth. Pabbi tried to let me have a small tub of yoghurt in one hand and a spoon in the other hand last week, but there was no way my hands would co-ordinate.. uff what a mess. I even like cod liver oil just like Ymir, yum yum. And the only way I like drinking is from a straw, Pretty stubborn, this little boy!

Flóki is 3 months old now and weighs over 7 kilos. He is very happy and calm, smiles a lot and loves to "talk" He also likes to suck his own thumb :)

Ýmir has stopped wearing a nappy during the day, which is going really well. He is just as busy with car games and he loves taking the bus. ...and hates going bed :D

Besto thought it was wondeful to see Ýmir again and Flóki for the first time!

And when she arrived we also had a naming party. Little baby got his name: Flóki Rostrup Höskuldsson. We had a cosy little naming party with Amma Sigga, Afi Jakob, Besto Randi, Afi Jón Pétur, Líney, Baldur Logi, Sóley, Óli Dagur, Langamma Gógó og Langamma Jakobína... and of course mamma and pabbi. The "guess the name" game was played again, heehe very funny!!

Now she has caught the plane back to Norway again... but Ragnhild, Ýmir and Flóki will come to see and cuddle her in July, hurray!!!

Aaaah, so nice to be in the warm water, I started off crying when I felt cold air around my body, but as soon as I was in the water, I loved it! Mamma washed me all over, even on my head and in my face which I did not mind one bit :D
Mamma is very proud to have another lovely boy to kiss and cuddle.
Here we are, the growing family. Now we are 4 (!!) which is quite a lot!
Otherwise, everything is going very well, Mamma has got a lot of milk, more than I can drink. I think I might grow up to be a big strong boy just like my older brother :D

Look what happened, mamma's big belly disappeared and instead a little baby arrived! Now I am even bigger, I am a big brother and a very proud one!

I try to make my little baby brother play with the yellow car, but at the moment all he wants to do is drink milk and sleep. He is only 2 days old today and mamma promises that he will play more when he gets bigger.

And my blog will change too. Now it is my blog and also my brother's blog! So prepare for lots of changes :D

Last weekend Mamma, Pabbi, AmmaSigga, Afi Jakob and I decided to travel up to Heiðmörk to get ourselves a Christmas tree!
The snow was deep and powdery, super Christmasy!!! Pabbi dragged me along on a snowsledge:D

We searched and searched for the perfect Christmas tree and mamma found it on the top of a hill!
hihi, I sat in the snow and waited while Pabbi and Afi Jakob got the saw ready.

Besto and Betten came to visit!

Oh no, Mamma has totally forgot to tell you that Besto and Betten came to visit two weeks ago, all the way from Norway. We had a great time, we went swimming, I came along when Mamma picked them up from the Airport. I impressed them with all my singing and all my Norwegian words. They think I speak more Norwegian than Icelandic, hehe. I cannot wait until I see Besto and Betten again, hope it will be soon!

Trip to Viðey

Last weekend I did something especially exciting! Mamma, Matja, Bjarni, Ólafur Gunnar and I went for a boat trip to Viðey, an island just outside Reykjavík. I cannot remember the last time I was on a boat, so just the idea of stepping onto a boat was amazing.
The boat was pretty small, and Ólafur Gunnar and I were allowed to watch the big waves through the window. wow!!
Completely natural smile (not)After walking up to the hill against a very strong icy cold wind, it was nice to make it into the church. hehe look at my red cheeks!!
Then we discovered a cake and sandwich buffet in the big house, we had loads to eat and Ólafur Gunnar and I played with our little vehicles :)

Two good friends who sometimes find it difficult to share toys, hehe
And I managed to steal Ólafur Gunnar's tractor and then RUN AWAY!hihi, we ran around lots! and played in the big room.
On our way home again, I got fed up with waiting for the boat, so I decided to lie down and roll around. and did not co-operate with what mamma was telling me to do :D

Hey, I continue to charm mamma, she cannot stop taking smiley photos of me :D above you can see me in my favourite jumper, I would like to wear it all the time, I even wake up at night demanding to wear the race-car jumper, hehe :D

But over to more practical clothes, mamma bought me a wonderful thermal suit that I can wear outside in lots of frost and snow. I can be outside for a loooong time in "minus whatever" and come back inside roasty toasty :D nice!

Hello everyone! All the snow melted away almost immediately and now we are back to cold frosty ground. That's OK, I don't particularly like sliding around on ice anyway.

The leikskóli/barnehage is still fun, although I sometimes object when mamma is leaving after dropping me off.. There is a photographer coming on Thursday to take pictures of us all together and then one at a time. wow, exciting!!

I am getting more and more extreme with my interest in cars, I want to know the make of every car that Mamma and I walk past on our way to the Leikskóli and also the cars that drive past us. Mamma has got quite good at learning car manufacture logos, so she tells me whether it is a Toyota, Skoda, Honda, etc.. hihi.

And in 10 days, Besto and Betten are coming for a visit! Hurray! It has been ages since I have seen them!! I cannot wait, I talk a lot with Besto on Skype and we sing together and talk nonsense :) wonderful Besto.

Snow!!!

Yesterday I woke up and it had snowed a lot during the night. So much that Mamma was able to drag me along to play school on my snow sledge! Wonderful! I cannot wait until we can build a snowman.

Mamma left the car at home and took the bus to work because the roads were so slippery. In the afternoon we had to try three times before we managed to drive up the small hill on our summertyres.... But in the end we made it so we could drive to visit Ólafur Gunnar :D

By the way, I love being at Play school, I kiss Mamma goodbye and I have not cried yet when she leaves. Everyone look so well after me :D

Hello! look, now I have got my own little table which I use for drawing. I draw and draw lots every day. My favourite things are still CARS, CARS and CARS and all kind of vehicles.... and drawing and singing. and throwing stones.

Today I start "Barnehage / Leikskóli" for the first time (!!!) Pabbi and Mamma wonders how I will like it there :)

I had a wonderful two months at Begga's place! I will miss her. I think I will see her again, because mamma says that my new brother/sister might also have Begga as Dagmamma when he/she gets old enough :D Hurray !

Oh well, off we go to the Leikskóli / Barnehage :D

Here are some pictures from our wonderful trip to the west fjords of Iceland. We stayed in a summerhouse that had a private pool! The pool was 39°C and we used it a lot.

Every day we had great weather and pretty sunsets!
And during the day we spent time dancing (below), swimming or playing.

We had a feast, Pabbi dug a hole in the ground and put 4 legs of lamb on top of hot coals! and the covered the hole with turf again. We ate outside late, still in the heat of the sun.
Here is the hot river next to the summerhouse. It is a natural hot river and that is why this swimmingpool is hot all year round :D

Finally, some news!

Hello, I really wish I would learn to type myself, because mamma is so busy these days that my blog is almost forgotten about. I hope the readers have not given up.

Well, as you know, I have come back from Norway and during May, June and July I have been doing loads of stuff. Mamma and Pabbi and I have been camping and I have been to a summer house twice. Once in the east and once in the west.

When it comes to baby-sitting, I was at the same daycare as Hulda Liv for 5 weeks, and in the end of July I had to change daycare because the daycare women were taking summer holiday. Now I am super happy being looked after by Begga. She looks after 3 other kids and has loads of wonderful little cars. I have never cried when Mamma leaves in the morning and I'd rather not leave when mamma comes and picks me up (!!!) Mamma thinks it is wonderful that I love being at Begga's. Hurray!

Other news is that I am becoming a big brother in January! Mamma says that she has a little baby in her belly. I don't quite understand what this means but I know that I am not allowed to kick mamma's belly when she changes my nappy. Hm, it will all become clear, I'm sure.

There was a heatwave here in Reykjavík yesterday. the temperature reached 26 degrees and that is a record in Reykjavík. It was too hot to stay in the sun! Imagine that! Mamma and I were amazed (and very hot). We sought refuge at Sigga, Jakob and Guðrún's house where we sat in the shadow on the balcony.

And my speech is beyond all expectations, I can say just about anything, I repeat everything that is being said around me. Mamma is trying to say really complicated words, just to see where the limit is. But words like Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua are a piece of cake. However, I have still to master the word "onomatopoetikon". This might take some time....he he. I tend to influence the kids at the daycare, so all of them end up talking Norwegian, hehe. I talk mostly Norwegian by the way and I count to 20 in Icelandic and Norwegian.

And I have learnt my first song: "Bjørnen sover"

I sing it VERY LOAD together with mamma. especially the word "faaaaaarlig"

Hehe, this is what happens when Mamma covers me in Sun lotion and then I go and play in a dusty pit. Mamma thinks I look like the bad guy in a movie or a truck driver or something.On a different day: And here I am reeeaaaally dirty! After falling head first into a lake of brown dust, I went to examine the tractor in the background.

And by the way, I have stopped using my dummy (smokk/snuð)!! Mamma forgot to bring it when we stayed the night up in Ingunn's hut and therefore there was no other choice than falling asleep without a dummy. Mamma decided not to mention the word dummy anymore and not show me one ever again. I feel fine, I don't have any trouble falling asleep without it! Wonderful!

Finally, Pabbi came to visit us after many days talking on the phone and waiting for him. I was a bit shy to start with, but it did not take long before things were just like before.

5 min drive from Bestemor's house there is a lake full of goldfish! They like bread, but have to fight the ducks for the crumbs! haha. Ingunn, Rita, Øyvind, Eigil, Mamma and I went up there one hot afternoon to have a BBQ.
It was so warm that it was not necessary to wear any clothes
I preferred exercising my legs doing some rock climbing.

Til fjells på grilltur

One afternoon, Ingunn, Morten, Øyvind, Eigil, Jon, Isak, Mamma and I decided to go up to Mjølstølen, a hut in the forest a steep walk from Ingunn and Morten's farm. Eigil and I were carried in special backpacks, which I love :D

Here is Ingunn carrying Eigil. Last year she managed to carry both her children, but not this year, hehe. Babies sure grow fast.
Mamma and Ingunn lit a fire and soon the flames were high.
A very cozy hut, I stood outside the door and said "heima" ("home") and charmed all the people, hehe
Øyvind and I had great fun throwing fir cones down the hill :D

Mmmm, and then we grilled sausages and wrapped them in potato cakes, the traditional Norwegian way. yum yum.Mamma made me stroke a baby tree.
And I discovered a pit full of cones!!

17th of May is a very important day to stand still and watch parades.... which I did not really want to do...

Hello everybody! I have finally nagged Mamma into writing what I am up to these days! Well, first I have to show you what Ólafur Gunnar and I got up to before I went to Norway.I showed OG my new three wheel bike! Ólafur Gunnar is lucky to have longer legs than me, so he actually managed to reach the pedals properly and almost managed to cycle forward and backwards! Wow, I cannot wait until we can go cycling together!
Ooops, here's an encounter in the corridor which we handled very well, just like proper chauffeurs.
Here's a good picture of me playing with cars. My car "sound" has strangely changed the last weeks. It used to be "brrrrrrrr", but now it has become "uuuuuuuuuuuu". Hm Mamma wonders what has caused this.... ??

Elí and I visited the farm last weekend, wonderful weather and loads of great things to do! We saw, seals, horses, sheep, goats with little kids, reindeer, hens, ducks, fox, fish, pigeons, turkeys, rabbits and and and. Elí and I really liked the seals and the goats the most.

Easter holidays and fun

Hello all, now it has been a long time since I wrote here. At easter we travellede north to Siglufjörður and stayed with Afi Jakob's sister. I really liked playing with the terrified dog called Moli and opened my first easter egg!! :D:D

Weekend trip to the Norwegian Cottage

I went with mamma up in Heiðmörk to the Norwegian Cottage there. Mamma had rented it for the weekend. No electricity and no running water makes a stay in this cottage quite "stone-age" like. I found it great to watch Mamma light candles, light the open fire and the wood burning stove.

The weather was amazing! Two different groups of friends came to stay, one on the Friday and one on the Saturday. I was allowed to stay up later that usual, but on the Saturday night I got quite a fever. So Mamma went to bed early and kept me in her bed to make sure I was OK.

Here you can see Hekla to the left, an active volcano (!!)Early in the morning, I woke Mamma and Pabbi up after they had been in the hot tub until very very late. hehe. I am evil!

Hurra, I am so happy! Finally Mamma found a Dagmamma that I really like. Now I smile and giggle when I see her in the morning. I don't start crying in the car when we are half-way there like I did at the other dagmamma.

There are 3 wonderful people looking after me and Elí every day, Dagmamma, and her parents. It is really luxury! imagine having so much attention, no wonder I am content :D And there are many interesting toys that I play with. Dagmamma is teaching me Icelandic and at the moment I say "Op, Op" and "Ap Ap" a lot. And I yell "MAMMA" and "taktooo" (Tractor)

During my nap I am allowed to sleep inside in a travel cot, not outside in the wind and frost. Mamma does not want me to catch pneumonia another time. I have been at the new Dagmamma for almost 3 weeks now and I have totally stopped crying when I am put to bed and almost stopped crying when Mamma or Pabbi drops me off. Dagmamma carries me over to the window so I can wave them goodbye, I like that.

And although my toilet habits got a bit messed up at the previous dagmamma, I am proud to say that I pooped in the potty this morning.

I have become a really steady walker and I am especially interested in seeing birds and big vehicles. Yes :D

Ólafur Gunnar and Matja finally came back from Norway after New Year and Christmas away and they came to visit us and play and eat cake :DLook at Ólafur Gunnar's BIIIIG, beautiful blue eyes!!

First we were playing inside in the big hot pool and then we went outside and tried the Jacuzzis with bubbles and the calm one too. it was -3°C, so it was "run run run, cold cold cold" until we reach the hot tub, then we went "aaaaaaaah"....

The weather was so snowy and cold and sunny that we decided to drive to Þingvellir. The car was full, Mamma Pabbi, Amma Sigga, Langamma Jakobina and me.

Pneumonia again...

Yes, Mamma and Pabbi took me to the children's hospital tonight because I did not seem myself (delirious) and my temperature had been 40°C for 4 days. The doctors decided to take X-ray of my lungs again and it became clear that I have pneumonia yet another time... This time in my other lung and the infection was more obvious than last time. I need to take stronger antibiotics and I have started it now. Mamma and Pabbi is relieved to find out what is wrong with me and they hope I will get better soon.

I will stay home until Christmas, because I have to take medicine three times a day. Mamma will be home with me until lunchtime (around 13) and then Pabbi will come home from work and be with me whilst Mamma studies for her exams.

Snotty, coughy poor me..

Uff, I am ill again and has been ill for the last 4 days. My fever reached 40.2 a couple of days and I also got an eye infection. Sometimes I could not even open my eyes when I woke up in the mornings, they were sealed shut with hard green stuff.

Mamma has been ill as well and was in bed for the two days before her exam... Fortunately Pabbi was home from work so he could take care of me.

Today I am still ill, but Mamma and Pabbi took me to the doctor last night and there the doctor confirmed that I did not have streptococcus virus, which is good! I have a bad throat infection and an infection in both eyes. We got some good eye drops, well I don't think they are very good, I HATE having sticky drops put in my eyes and squeeze my eyes shut.. But is all for the best, because today I feel a little better. My eyes are not so infected anymore and my fever has gone down a bit (39.8). Mamma is still not feeling well. Who knows, we might completely recover on the same day.

My appetite not good either, I don't want much to eat. But fortunately I drink lots of water. ooo I am looking forward to being well again!! Because normally I love food!

To me, everything with wheels is a car.

Recovering from Pneumonia

Hey, I am happy to tell you that I am recovering and my fever has disappeared... I was quite ill yesterday when I got a fever all of a sudden. I was breathing fast and strange and did not feel very good at all. Mamma and Pabbi brought me straight down to the children's hospital where I was checked thoroughly. They checked my blood, took a streptococcal test, checked my temperature (39,8°C) and listened on my back and chest. I was even sent to an X-ray to check my lungs. It became clear that I have pneumonia and I started penicillin immediately.

Last night my fever got really high in spite of having taken a double dose of heat reducing medicine. I was burning hot at 40°C. Mamma and Pabbi were really worried but in the morning miraculously my fever had disappeared all of a sudden. Today I have been home and have been sleeping a lot! I feel a whole lot better!

I also wanted to show you pictures of a trip we went on, mamma, Sonja, me and Salka the friendly dog!

So I was allowed to celebrate my birthday yet another time!! And I had to squeeze into my "bunad" again... Hehe, I have grown so much that one of the buttons went flying.. ooops.

Early in the morning I got woken up by Mamma and Pabbi singing! They had a tiny cake for me with a candle. Well, it was not a proper cake, just a morning-cake with "skyr" and banana. and of course a candle. hehe. I did not go to dagmamma today because I was a little bit unwell. Nice to be home and sleep as much as possible :D

Mamma has taught me that the big yellow lamp that hangs from the ceiling in our living room is called "the sun" or "sola" as I call it in Norwegian.

So when I see other lights around the flat I also call it "sola" and Mamma just nods her head and smiles. The other day when we were playing outside, Mamma pointed to something up in the air and said "sola". I tried to find a lamp-shape object, but I did not understand what she was pointing at... haha :D Mamma finds this funny.

Mamma was very surprised to find a new molar tooth/jeksel/jaxl in my mouth yesterday! She did not believe young boys like me would get molar teeth as early as 11 months. hmm. But now Pabbi and Mamma understand why I was so difficult last weekend when Pabbi brought me on an adventure trip to the north of Iceland. I did not sleep very well. And all of a sudden I refused sit on the toilet. I would scream and scream and bend my body backwards so it was impossible to put me on the toilet. My parents really did not understand anything at all....

Ah well, yesterday when I was visiting Ólafur Gunnar for a couple of hours playing, Mamma found the molar tooth and the same day I quit my week's toilet strike. Now I am back to normal. Poo in the toilet every morning and every evening and I feel a whole lot better. :D

Surprise, surprise! Amma Sigga and Afi Jakob came for a visit with an early birthday present!!! I have never opened a present before, very exciting!
Amma Sigga helped me a little bit, and then I was able to open it up and WOOOOW, I got a wonderful new overall to use when I am out in the cold weather and winter boots too!

Hey everybody! I learn new things every day and I often surprise Mamma and Pabbi with how fast I learn. Just today I took 8 steps on my own, walking towards Pabbi! I am soon able to walk I think! wow imagine that! And then I must tell you that I understand the same sentence in Icelandic and in Norwegian. Mamma asks me: "Kor stor e du?" and Pabbi asks me: "hvað ertu stór?" and every time I lift my arms up to show them just like this:Såååååå STOR!

Mamma and Pabbi went to Ikea and bought me a little wooden trolley with a handle that sticks up, just 10 minutes after trying it out, walking around, I let go of the trolley, took 3 steps into the arms of Pabbi!! can you believe it?

Mamma and Pabbi are really looking forward to when I wake up tomorrow morning so I can do it again :D:D

This weekend we met upö with Matja and Ólafur Gunnar and went to a dog show! loads of dogs and fun and a short stop in the café to eat carrotcake! yumyum Ólafur Gunnar is an advanced one-year-old that can WALK! and has really cool winter boots. wowow, I am "just" a crawler still, but perhaps I will walk too when I turn one in just over a month.

Helloooooooooo

Here I am, I finally managed to get busy busy mum to write something here:

I learn and learn so fast! Now I am even able to clap my hands! I love clapping and smile and laugh at the same time. I stand up and try to grab all sorts of things, my favorite thing at the moment is the TV, when Mamma or Pabbi switch it on, I crawl fast fast fast over to it and switch it off and switch it on, and switch it off, and switch it on.... and so on.. Poor pabbi is trying to watch the news.. hehe. If I get told off too much, then I turn around with a puzzled look on my face and I put one finger into my mouth, so innocent. And then I just keep on doing it or I crawl over to Pabbi's new amplifier and do the same. hehe.

Pabbi is still at home looking after me and it is going really well, I have tried lots of different food, I tried a tiny bit of hangikjöt the other day and roasted lamb yesterday. yum yum!! I am never full, I always want to eat and especially what people are eating around me. I am getting much better at chewing my food, although I put far too much into my mouth in one go.. Mamma and Pabbi have to portion out my food so I don't choke :)

Mamma was looking through pictures from when I was 6 months, and she was amazed to see how round I was!! She had totally forgotten what a little fatzo I was. But Now I am streamlined and all the food is burned up with all my crawling around and moving around in my bed at night.

Soon I will be looked after by someone else than Mamma and Pabbi. Because Pabbi needs to go back to work and Mamma is at University. Mamma is not looking forward to it... But I think it will be lots of fun! hurray, many other kids to play with and terrorize.

Other things I can do: suck my toes, "spele på slurva", open all the drawers and cupboards, walk along whilst holding onto something, throw a ball to Mamma or Pabbi, say "Dall", draw with a pen if Mamma holds the paper.
